HELP MY HEAD COUNSELLING SUPPORT

Welcome. Read on and take the next step to helping your head.

I offer face to face and online counselling options which include support for bereavement, anxiety, stress, depression, trauma, phobias, self-esteem, self-confidence and negative habits. You may well be feeling low, confused or ‘stuck somewhere’ without understanding why. Let’s try and work it out together.

WHAT DOES IT ALL MEAN....

Working together....

You’ll not be surprised that counselling involves talking with each other (often known as ’Talking Therapy’) which gives us the chance to explore your thoughts and feelings and what effect they are having. You can take more control of how you deal with the thoughts that pop into your head. This in turn helps you to become more confident and builds resilience.
We may look at your life events and work out if any of your earlier experiences are affecting you negatively now (psychotherapeutic). Gaining a better understanding of this can help you deal with things in a different, more positive way.
'Talking' can include all forms of communication so telephone work and online work can be equally effective as face to face and evidence suggests it can often be more effective. They can be used separately or as a mix of support, whatever is best for you.

A BIT MORE EXPLANATION

A clearer mind....

Always remember that you will be in ultimate charge of the process and as I suggest ideas or targets for you, we work together to make sure they are right for you (person-centred counselling).

There are a lot of descriptions and theories about counselling out there which can be confusing. Remember that whatever title or description therapy work is given, it is all designed to help you so don’t worry too much about the label. All practising
counsellors should be a member of a professional body to ensure that we follow a code of conduct and ethics and always try to do what is best for the client. The relationship with your counsellor is often more important than the approach they use.

NO OBLIGATION OR PRESSURE....

Give it a try....

The relationship and trust between client and counsellor is all important. Online work is conducted via encrypted media. Difficult and personal things are often discussed and be assured that, unless there are safeguarding issues, what is said in a session is kept between us. It can be a big step to take but taking that first step is you beginning to take back control. When you feel physically unwell, you visit a doctor so it's very important similarly, that we seek professional help if we feel mentally unwell. You may not know what is wrong only that, 'I just don't feel right' but don't ignore that feeling.

“You don't have to be positive all the time. It's perfectly okay to feel sad, angry, annoyed, frustrated, scared and anxious. Having feelings doesn't make you a negative person. It makes you human.
